There is no Polymarket stock you can buy. Polymarket is a private company: it has no ticker, it has not filed for an initial public offering (IPO), and it has not launched a token. Any "Polymarket stock price" you see on a finance site is a placeholder or an estimate, not a market price.
What does exist is a private valuation, set by funding rounds. The last confirmed one, from an investor's own announcement, was about $9 billion when Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) invested in October 2025. Since then the press has reported rounds at about $15 billion and $21 billion. This guide explains what those numbers mean, how investors get exposure today, and what to watch for.
As of 30 October 2026. Figures confirmed by a company or investor are marked as such; the rest are press reports.

Is Polymarket publicly traded?
No. Polymarket, legally Blockratize Inc., was founded by Shayne Coplan in 2020 and is owned by its founder, employees and investors. To become publicly traded it would have to file a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission and list on an exchange such as the NYSE or Nasdaq. It has done neither.
On 13 October 2026, Bloomberg reported that Polymarket was weighing two routes: a traditional IPO, or launching a native token. It had not chosen and had set no timetable. Polymarket itself has said it has never announced an airdrop or token generation event. Coplan discussed the idea of an on-chain asset at the TOKEN2049 conference on 7 October, which some outlets read as a hint, but nothing has been launched.

Why some sites show a "Polymarket stock price"
If you search for Polymarket's stock price you will find numbers, which can be confusing. They usually come from one of three places:
- Funding-round valuations divided by an estimated share count, presented as a per-share price.
- Secondary-market listings, where private shares change hands between investors at negotiated prices.
- Placeholder pages created by finance sites for companies that might list one day.
None of these is a quoted price on a public exchange, and you cannot buy at them through an ordinary brokerage account. Treat any precise-looking per-share figure for Polymarket as an estimate, and check its source and date before relying on it.
Who the big shareholders are
- ICE, the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, is the largest outside investor after committing about $1.6 billion.
- 1789 Capital, the venture firm where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, invested in 2025, when Trump Jr. joined Polymarket's advisory board, and reportedly led the August 2026 round.
- Founders Fund and Polychain led earlier rounds; Shayne Coplan remains founder and chief executive.
How to get exposure to Polymarket today
None of these is advice, and none is the same as owning Polymarket shares.
| Route | Who can use it | What you actually own |
|---|---|---|
| Buy ICE stock (NYSE: ICE) | Anyone with a brokerage account | A large exchange group. Polymarket is a small slice of its value |
| Pre-IPO platforms | Usually accredited investors | Private shares or funds holding them; hard to sell, priced by the platform |
| Wait for an IPO or token | Anyone, if it happens | Nothing yet: neither has been announced |
ICE is the most direct listed route. It owns the New York Stock Exchange and, with about $1.6 billion committed across two tranches, is reported to own roughly 22% of Polymarket (a press figure, not confirmed in a filing). ICE also distributes Polymarket's data to financial firms. But ICE is worth far more than its Polymarket stake, so a good Polymarket year barely moves its share price.
Pre-IPO marketplaces sometimes list shares of private companies sold by employees or early investors. They are usually open only to accredited investors, supply is thin, and you may end up owning units in a fund that holds the shares rather than the shares themselves. Fees can be high.
IPO or token: what the difference would mean
Bloomberg's report framed Polymarket's choice as an IPO or a token. For an investor the two are very different things:
| IPO (shares) | Token | |
|---|---|---|
| What you own | Equity: a slice of the company, with shareholder rights | A crypto asset whose rights depend on how it is designed |
| Disclosure | Audited financials in an SEC registration statement | Whatever the issuer publishes |
| Where it trades | A stock exchange, through any broker | Crypto exchanges, if they list it |
| Regulation | Securities law | Depends on how regulators classify it |
An IPO would also mean the first detailed public look at Polymarket's finances: revenue, costs, user numbers and legal risks would all be in the filing. Early investors and employees are usually barred from selling for a lock-up period after listing, often around six months.
Kalshi as a benchmark
Kalshi's new round gives a rough yardstick. It is valued at $40 billion, says it earns more than $1 billion a year outside sports, and claims more than 75% of prediction market volume. Polymarket's last reported price, $21 billion, is a little over half of that. Whether Polymarket deserves a higher or lower multiple will come down to growth, its international reach and how its fight with US regulators ends.
How to tell a real offer from a scam
Searches for "Polymarket stock" attract scams. Warning signs:
- "Pre-launch Polymarket tokens" or an "airdrop" you must pay to claim. Polymarket has not launched a token.
- "Polymarket shares" sold by an individual or through a messaging app.
- Guaranteed returns or pressure to buy before a deadline.
- Websites that copy Polymarket's branding but sit on a different domain.
Real private-share sales happen through regulated broker-dealers with paperwork, identity checks and transfer agreements, never through a chat message. If someone cannot explain who holds the shares and how they would be transferred, walk away. Our guide to the Polymarket airdrop covers the token rumours.
Can you trade stocks on Polymarket?
That is a different question. Polymarket lists markets on financial events, such as where indices or individual companies will trade, alongside its election, sports and crypto markets. Trading those is trading on Polymarket, not owning it. The same goes for Kalshi's stock-index markets. Our explainer on how Polymarket works and the guide to Polymarket fees cover the basics.
What would make Polymarket's stock worth buying?
If Polymarket does list, investors will look at the usual things: revenue, growth, competition and regulation.
- Revenue. Polymarket introduced taker fees on its global site in 2026 and runs its own fee schedule on Polymarket US, so it now earns money directly from trading (how Polymarket makes money).
- Competition. Kalshi says it handles more than 75% of prediction market volume. Robinhood, Coinbase, DraftKings and FanDuel have all launched rival products.
- Regulation. States are suing prediction markets over sports contracts, while the CFTC is proposing rules that would confirm its own jurisdiction.
- Security. Polymarket's international site suffered a theft of about $2.7 million from user accounts on 29 October, its second incident of the year (our report). Polymarket says affected users will be made whole.
