Kalshi news
The state fights are heading to the Supreme Court. In September 2026 New Jersey asked the US Supreme Court to review the Third Circuit's ruling that federal commodities law stops the state from enforcing its gambling laws against Kalshi's sports contracts. A Ninth Circuit decision in August went the other way, so federal appeals courts now disagree, which makes a Supreme Court case more likely. In Washington a state judge ordered Kalshi in August to stop offering most contract categories there, and New York's attorney general sued Kalshi in July. Margin trading request. On 22 September 2026 Kalshi's clearinghouse, Kalshi Klear, asked the CFTC to allow margin trading for eligible members with enough capital, on economic, financial and political contracts but not on sports, culture or "mention" markets. The CFTC has not ruled. Retail accounts would stay fully funded at first.
Valuation and IPO talk. Kalshi's last confirmed round valued it at $22 billion (spring 2026). Reports in August described a new raise at about $40 billion, and the CEO, Tarek Mansour, has said a public listing is being discussed but will not happen in 2026. What that means for anyone searching for Kalshi shares: Kalshi stock and Polymarket stock.
New products. Kalshi has pushed beyond yes/no contracts toward perpetual futures, crypto-style contracts with no expiry, with filings reported in September covering stocks, ETFs, commodities and crypto. How the core product earns money: how does Kalshi make money.
Polymarket news
ICE's stake. Intercontinental Exchange, the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, completed a further $600 million investment in March 2026, taking its holding to roughly a quarter of the company according to reports at the time. Background: who owns Polymarket.
New kinds of markets. Since May 2026 Polymarket has listed markets on private companies, resolved with data from Nasdaq Private Market, and in April it opened a waitlist for leveraged perpetual contracts on Bitcoin, stocks and gold.

Big markets this month. The Nobel Peace Prize market drew more than $26 million before the 9 October announcement, and the 2027 NFL championship market has already traded about $67 million: see Super Bowl odds on Kalshi and Polymarket.
The rest of the industry
- Robinhood opened its own exchange, Rothera, a joint venture with Susquehanna, in June 2026, and reported $156 million of prediction market revenue for the second quarter. Details: Robinhood prediction markets.
- DraftKings launched its own exchange, DKeX, in June 2026 and folded DraftKings Predictions into its main app: DraftKings Predictions review.
- FanDuel Predicts, built with CME Group, went from five states to nationwide financial markets in February 2026: FanDuel Predicts explained.
In Washington
- CLARITY Act: the crypto market structure bill failed a Senate procedural vote 49–50 on 15 September 2026. A motion to reconsider keeps a second vote possible, but markets give it about a 1-in-20 chance of becoming law this year.
- Government funding: a stopgap passed in September keeps the government open until 11 December 2026, setting up a lame-duck deadline after the midterms.
How to follow prediction market news yourself
- Watch the prices, not just the headlines. A big story usually shows up as a fast move in the odds. Our live markets page and the resolution calendar show what is moving and what closes next.
- Read the rules when news breaks. A headline can sound decisive while the market's resolution source says otherwise.
- Compare both platforms. When news hits, one order book often reacts first; the gap shows up on our spread scanner.
