What the prices mean
A price of 21.5¢ means the market gives that team about a 21.5% chance. Buy one contract at 21.5¢ and it pays $1 if they win the title, so your profit would be 78.5¢ before fees. In sportsbook terms, 21.5% is roughly +365: a $100 stake returns $365 in profit. The conversions, with a table, are in how to read Kalshi odds and Polymarket prices.
Conference odds
The conference markets are thinner but tell the same story:
- West: Spurs 34.5%, Thunder 33.5%, Timberwolves 11%, Nuggets 6.5% (Polymarket).
- East: 76ers 20.3%, Knicks 18.5%, Celtics 12.5%, Heat 11% (Polymarket).
The East is the more open conference: no team is above about one-in-five to reach the Finals.
Where each team is cheaper: Kalshi vs Polymarket
The same team often trades at different prices on the two platforms, because their order books are separate:
- Thunder: 19.5% on Polymarket against 23% on Kalshi, so backing OKC was about 3.5 points cheaper on Polymarket.
- Heat: 3.9% on Polymarket against 6% on Kalshi.
- Spurs: nearly identical on both.
Before acting on a gap, compare the ask prices and fees, not the headline numbers: on long-dated futures, a few points of difference can disappear once you pay the spread. Our spread scanner does that math for pairs listed on both platforms, and prediction market arbitrage explains when a gap is real.
Kalshi NBA Finals markets: how to find them
Kalshi lists the title market as "Pro Basketball Champion", not "NBA Finals", and uses the same generic naming across leagues. Beyond the title, both platforms list conference winners, awards and every game during the season, and Kalshi lets you combine legs into parlays: can you parlay on Kalshi or Polymarket?
Sports contracts are available on Kalshi in most states, but several states are challenging them in court; check is Kalshi legal in your state. On Polymarket, US residents use Polymarket US; the global site is for users outside the US.
How title odds move during the season
Expect the biggest moves on injuries to stars, trades before the February deadline and the first playoff seedings. A team at 20% in October is far from a lock: in a typical season, the preseason favourite wins the title less often than not. Long-dated futures also tie up money for eight months, so many traders size them small or trade in and out rather than holding to the Finals.
